    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compacting method for a titanium alloy applicable even if a shape of an objective sintered body is complicated and furthermore capable of forming a sitered body having an approximately true density at a low cost. SOLUTION: Titanium or titanium alloy powder and low m.p. metal or alloy powder are uniformly mixed, which is filled into a compacting die, next, heated about to the temp. directly above the m.p. of a low m.p. metal or about to the temp. between the liquidus and solidus of the low m.p. alloy or about to the temp. directly above the liquidus and is compacted to form into an objective compacted body. This compacted body is held under pressure, and a melted low m.p. metal or alloy is infiltrated into the powdery boundaries of the titanium or titanium alloy. Then, an obtd. compacted body is sintered in an inert atmosphere or in a vacuum, by which the titanium or titanium alloy and the low m.p. metal or alloy are mutually diffused and alloyed.
