Abstract: Briquets are manufactured by kneading in a hot blow atmosphere coal dust blended with asphalt containing 55-65 percent n-hexane soluble matter as the binder in a particular ratio and molding the kneaded blend under heat-compression. These briquets are further heat-cured in an oxidizing atmosphere and then calcined in an inert gas, to produce coke in the molded form. The resulting products have all the properties required for use in blast furnaces.
