Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method in which when a saved surgical procedure is invoked representations of defined surgical steps are displayed to a user so the user can conduct the surgical procedure by navigating through the representations of the surgical steps such that when a representation of a surgical step is selected the surgical console 100 is configured according to the functionality associated with that surgical step.SOLUTION: Embodiments of the present invention may allow each of a plurality of surgical steps of a surgical procedure to be defined and associated with a function of a surgical console by using a GUI. The defined surgical procedure can then be saved and later invoked by a user of the surgical console to conduct the surgical procedure.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method which allows a user to quickly and reliably modify a surgical procedure to handle unexpected complications. SOLUTION: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for allowing a user to modify a surgical procedure. An embodiment of the method of the present invention can include: providing a GUI on a touch screen of a surgical console, the GUI comprising a representation of the surgical procedure and representations of one or more surgical steps, wherein the GUI allows a user to modify the representation of the surgical procedure by dragging and dropping representations of surgical steps using the touch screen; detecting that the representation of the surgical procedure has been modified; and modifying the surgical procedure to correspond to the modified representation of the surgical procedure. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method which are useful for the setup of complicated surgical instruments of ophthalmology and related consumable items. SOLUTION: Regarding a surgical operation system which can display video showing setup instructions corresponding to the consumable item or consumable packs, each of the packs can hold the one or more consumable item. When the consumable item is scanned, chosen, or identified, the surgical operation system acquires employment description (DFU) and other data relevant to the consumable item by referring to a database, therefore updates pack establishment, and moreover can operate so as to provide the setup instruction in various modes including a wizard. The wizard provides the setup instruction (for example, visual sensation, a sound, a text, etc.) only in one step at once and moreover displays the following step in the order of a setup beforehand formed only when a front step is correctly and favorably finished. An embodiment of the method of the present invention can include; providing a GUI on a touch screen of a surgical console, said GUI . comprising a representation of the surgical procedure and representations of one or more surgical steps,,wherein the GUI allows a user to modify the representation of the surgical 10 procedure by dragging and dropping representations of surgical steps using the touch screen; detecting that the representation of the surgical procedure has been modified; and modifying the surgical procedure to corTespond to the modified representation of the surgical procedure.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method useful in setting up a complex ophthalmic surgical instrumentation and consumables associated therewith. One embodiment is directed to a surgical system (500) capable of displaying a video (608) showing setup instructions corresponding to a consumable or a consumable pack. Each pack may contain one or more consumables. Once a consumable is scanned, selected, or otherwise identified, the surgical system may operate to query a database (604) to obtain Directions For Use (DFU) and other data associated with the consumable, update pack settings (605) accordingly, and provide setup instructions in various modes, including the Wizard (607). The Wizard provides setup instructions (e.g., visual, audio, text, etc.) one step at a time and displays the next step in a pre-defined setup sequence only when the preceding step has been correctly and successfully completed (610).
Abstract:
The invention provides a graphical user interface (132) allowing a user to modify a surgical procedure. A embodiment of the invention provides a graphical user interface for the modification of a surgical procedure under the control of a surgical console (100), comprising a touch screen display (115) coupled to the surgical console; a representation of the surgical procedure (135) and representations of one or more surgical steps (140); means (206) for allowing a user to modify the representation of the surgical procedure by dragging and dropping representations of the surgical steps using the touch screen; means (230) for detecting that the representation of the surgical procedure has been modified, and means (200) for modifying the operational parameters of the surgical procedure under the control of the surgical console to correspond to the modified representation of the surgical procedure.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention may allow each of the surgical steps of a surgical procedure to be defined and associated with a function of the surgical console using a GUI. The defined surgical procedure can then be saved and later invoked by a user of the surgical console to conduct the surgical procedure. When the saved surgical procedure is invoked representations of the defined surgical steps are displayed to the user using a GUI so the user can conduct the surgical procedure by navigating through the representations of the surgical steps such that when a representation of a surgical step is selected the surgical console is configured according to the functionality associated with that surgical step.
Abstract:
An ophthalmic surgical system comprises: a camera optically coupled to a surgical microscope; a virtual reality (VR) headset worn by a surgeon; and a VR data processing unit configured to communicate with the surgical microscope, the VR headset, and an ophthalmic surgical apparatus, wherein the VR data processing unit is configured to: project a real time video screen of video received from the camera into the VR headset; project a patient information screen into the VR headset to provide the patient information directly to the surgeon during ophthalmic surgery; project a surgical apparatus information screen into the VR headset; project a surgical apparatus input control screen into the VR headset to provide the surgeon with direct control over the surgical apparatus; and control which ones of the screens are visible in the VR headset based inputs indicating head movements of the surgeon as detected by the VR headset.
