Abstract: PURPOSE: To add new data continually after pertinent data while maintaining an interval between with data on a tape recorded last time to be within a prescribed range in a halical scan tape recorder. CONSTITUTION: The total delay of a write/read circuit 26 is measured and the adding of new data is started continually after data recorded last time at the point of the time of securing a desired interval by using this total delay. In addition when adding operation is plurally and consecutively executed in a period shorter than the temporarily responding time of servo circuits 32 and 34, the error of the measured value of the total delay is compensated to prevent the generation of a creeping phenomenon.
