Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable continuous measurement by eliminating effects from variations in the thickness of a filter paper, by moving a single detector section to the same part of the filter paper in the measurement before and after the collection of dust so that the subsequent pre-dust collection measurement with the filter paper will be made during the collection of dust. CONSTITUTION:A rollable filter paper 14 is introduced 16 into a trapping section 10 to trap floating dust contained in air and then, it is fed with a winding reel 18 to a measuring position. A detector section 20 is made up of a beta rays source 28 and a detector 30 for measuring betarays and so arranged to be movable to measuring positions before and after the collection of dust and a measurement data before the dust collection is inputted into a scale 32 to record. A measurement data of a transmission beta dose after the dust collection is inputted into a scale 34 and the measurement before and after the dust collection is controlled 36. Moreover, a temperature sensor is provided at a desired position of the detector section 20 and the temperature measured is inputted 38 thereinto to correct the output of the scale 34 corresponding to a change in the air temperature. The output of a temperature correction circuit 38 is inputted into a density computing circuit 40 to calculate the ratio between the measured values before and after the dust collection and then, the density of floating dust is computed 40 and recorded 42.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable measurement of pollution accurately and quickly in the environmental atmosphere, by performing additional measurement during the collection of dust and before the blank measurement within one cycle of measuring time after the end of the measurement of a filter paper following the dust collection. CONSTITUTION:A trapping section 10 is provided with an air supply pipe 12 in such a manner as to communicate therewith. A rollable filter paper 14 is introduced 16 into the trapping section 10 to trap 14 floating dust contained in air passing through the trapping section 10 and it 14 is sent with a winding reel 18 to a specified position to measure the filter paper 14. Furthermore, the measurement of transmission beta dose through the filter paper 14 is made by a detector section 20 comprising a beta ray source and a detector for measuring beta rays. Transmission beta dose only through the filter paper 14 as measured at a blank position B is inputted into a memory 24 through a controller 22. Transmission beta dose after the collection of dust as measured at a major measuring position M is inputted into a density computing circuit 26 through the controller 22 to calculate the ratio with a blank measured value outputted from the memory 24 and the density of floating dust is computed and recorded 28. In this manner, the pollution in the atmosphere can be measured quickly.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the checking for the abnormality of sensitivity at a detector section, by arranging a detector section driving part to stop a detector section at a position away from a filter paper between blank and major measuring positions to allow the measurement of air alone free from a filter paper. CONSTITUTION:A rollable filter paper 14 is introduced 16 into a trapping section 10 to trap 14 floating dust contained in air passing through the trapping section 10 and the filter paper 14 is sent to a measuring position with a winding reel 18. A detector section 24 comprising a beta ray source 20 and a beta ray measuring device 22 is so arranged to be stoppable at a sensitivity checking position C away from a filter paper 1 while it moves from a blank measuring position B (measurement before dust collection) to a major measuring position M (measurement after dust collection). Then, a blank measured value is inputted into a memory 34 through a controller 32 while a sensitivity check measured value is inputted into a memory 36. Then, after the end of a sensitivity checking measurement, transmission B dose through the filter paper 14 collecting dust is measured 24 and inputted into a density computing unit 42 which calculates the ratio with the blank measured value and computes the density of a floating matter to record 40.
