    Abstract: 1,184,715. Ropes of synthetic plastics. AMERICAN MFG. CO. Inc. 14 March, 1967 [12 April, 1966], No. 12021/67. Heading D1T. A rope of synthetic plastics comprises:- (a) a core 15 of yarns of synthetic plastics material, for example nylon or a polyester, and (b) a plurality of strands 6 to 11 twisted around the core 15, a selected number of said strands each comprising:- (1) an outer layer including a first plurality of synthetic yarns 21, for example nylon, or a polyester, (2) a core 22 of substantially untwisted filaments in each strand 6 to 11. The aforesaid outer layer may comprise a second plurality of yarns 20 of a synthetic plastics having a lower melting point than the first plurality of yarns 21, for example from the class of polyolefins of propylene and ethylene. The yarns 21 may, as shown, be alternated with the yarns 20; or they can be disposed in a 1:2 or 2:1 or other ratio. In another arrangement the yarns 21 form an outer layer and the yarns 20 an inner layer.
