Abstract: A baseband processor of a user equipment (UE) causes the UE to receive 440 a channel state information (CSI) report configuration that indicates a number of physical resource blocks (PRB), to determine 460 a number of subbands and respective number of PRBs in each subband, and generate several eigenvectors, at least one of which summarises a channel state matrix across a respective subband, and another number of which corresponds to a number of inputs of an artificial intelligence (AI) encoder used for CSI feedback compression 480. An eigenvector may be generated for each sub-band, and if the number of subbands is less than the number of AI inputs, then padding eigenvectors may be generated, or the subband eigenvectors adapted. The baseband processor may cause transmission of a UE capability report indicating a maximum number of eigenvectors, whether multiple model input sizes are supported, or whether the UE supports generation of padding eigenvectors or adaptation of subband eigenvectors.

Abstract: A method for a user equipment (UE) to receive from a network device an indication of a first carrier and a second carrier in a same frequency band, e.g. intra-band carriers. The indication may relate to the implementation of non-contiguous uplink carrier aggregation. A first local oscillator (LO), 82A, is configured to generate a first frequency of the first carrier, FCC1. A first set of signals is transmitted using a plurality of transmission paths,70A & 70B, using the first carrier, i.e. Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) transmission. The first LO is reconfigured to generate a second frequency of the second carrier, FCC2 and a second set of signals is transmitted using the plurality of transmission paths using the second carrier. Alternatively, the UE may include a second LO that generates the second frequency and couples the second LO to the transmission paths when transmitting using the second carrier. The advantage of the invention is the user equipment may use the same radio resource control (RRC) configuration (i.e. not require a RRC reconfiguration) when switching between the two carriers, since there may be no change in primary cell and/or secondary cell designation.
