The flexible antenna resonating substrate 62A may be wrapped around a dielectric carrier 70 and mounted within an electronic device 10 under an inactive display region and above a dielectric housing window 58. Conductive structures such as conductive housing structures may form antenna ground. The resonating elements and antenna ground may form first and second antennas. A parasitic antenna resonating element may form part of the first antenna.

Abstract: An electronic device may include a conductive housing and an antenna. The antenna may include an arm formed from a first segment of the housing. A gap may separate the first segment from a second segment. The antenna may include a feed coupled to a transmission line having a signal conductor. The feed may include first and second positive terminals on the first segment and a third positive terminal on the second segment. An adjustable component may be coupled between the first and third terminals. The signal conductor may be coupled to the first terminal. A wide conductive trace may be coupled between the signal conductor and the second terminal. A switch may be interposed on the signal conductor. The second terminal may cover a cellular low band when the switch is open. The first terminal may cover the cellular low band and higher bands when the switch is closed.

Abstract: An electronic device 10, such as a cellular mobile phone, has an integrated hybrid multi-band antenna with a resonant element arm 108 (such as an inverted-F element) formed from conductive edges16 of a housing 12, which may be segmented by gaps 18(1,2). An opening separates the element arm 108 from a groundplane 104. An elongate conductive portion 142(1), which may extend from the groundplane 104, is located within the opening, forming an open slot with the groundplane 104. In embodiments, first and second conductive portions 142(1,2) bisect a U-shaped opening; and first and second antenna feeds F(1,2) are coupled between first and second conductive members 142(1,2) and the element arm 180. A transmission line may extend along conductive members 142(1,2), between radiofrequency transceiver circuitry 90 and antenna feeds F(1,2). Tuneable and fixed inductors 132, 134 may be coupled across a slot formed between a conductive member and the element arm.

Abstract: An electronic device 10 comprises: a housing with peripheral conductive structures 16 and ground structures 78, an antenna with a resonating element arm formed from a segment of the peripheral conductive housing structure, which is separated from the ground structures by a slot, a feed arrangement 50-4 where a ground signal is connected to the ground structures and a feed signal is connected to the said segment and where an adjustable tuning component 102D has a first terminal coupled to the feed signal, a second terminal coupled to the segment and a third terminal coupled to the ground structures. Further disclosed is an electronic device comprising: a housing with peripheral conductive structures and where a feed signal is connected to a conductive housing segment and where a switch is interposed on a feed signal line and a conductive trace 90 is coupled between a node 100 on the signal line 52, which is between the switch and a radio frequency transceiver, and a feed signal terminal 46B on the segment. Also disclosed is an antenna comprising conductive structures, wherein a portion extends between ground structures and a conductive structure, the conductive structure being separated from a resonating element arm by a dielectric-filled gap; and an antenna feed with a ground terminal, a feed signal coupled to first and second terminals of the arm and a third feed terminal coupled to a conductive structure.
