Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved techniques for interaction between a host computer (e.g., personal computer) and a media player. SOLUTION: The interaction between the host computer and the media player, such as automatic synchronization of media contents stored on the media player and media contents stored on the host computer, can be restricted. In one implementation, a given media player is able to automatically interact only with a designated host computer. According to another aspect, synchronization can be automatically initiated and performed upon connection of a data link between the media player and the host computer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved techniques for automatic (i.e., dynamic) updating (or maintaining) of playlists for a media system that stores and plays media content for a user of the media system.SOLUTION: The automatic update to playlists can occur when additional media content is added to or removed from the media system. The automatic update to playlists can also occur when previously stored media content is otherwise altered.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for accessing media across networks. SOLUTION: The present invention generally allows for media to be provided across a network. A client requests media information from a server so the client can create a local representation of the server's database. The client is then able to manage the media information locally. When the client selects the desired media, it requests the selection from across the network. The server then delivers the selected media. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a graphical user interface suitable for reviewing, browsing, previewing, and/or purchasing media items. SOLUTION: The graphical user interface is suitable for reviewing or browsing numerous media items. The graphical user interface is also suitable for previewing or purchasing the media items on line. The graphical user interface is particularly useful for a system that provides purchase and distribution of media in a client-server environment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

Abstract:
A networked media station comprising:a first network interface;a second network interface;a peripheral device interface; andat least one multimedia interface;wherein the networked media interface is configured to receive multimedia data from a multimedia server via the first network interface, and output the multimedia data to an entertainment device via the at least one multimedia interface;wherein the peripheral device interface is configured to communicate with one or more peripheral devices; andwherein the second network interface provides a network access point for an external device coupled to the second network interface.
