Abstract: A graphical user interface made up of icons 1405-1420 representing individual media items in a playlist collectively displayed in the form of a spiral. A representative icon (330, figure 3) is provided in a central region of the spiral representing the whole playlist. The system facilitates rearrangement of the icons by the user for example by using an object pointer 1005 to drag icon 1420 to the current location of item 1410 which displaces item 1410 and creates a new order for the playlist. Alternatively the playlist can be displayed in the form of a v-shape (figure 4) or linear arrangement (figure 20).
