    Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with a phased antenna array that radiates at a frequency greater than 10 GHz. The array may include a first set of dielectric resonator antennas arranged in a first row and a second set of dielectric resonator antennas in a second row offset from the first row. Each dielectric resonator antenna may have dielectric resonating element with a base portion and a stepped portion. The stepped portions of the antennas in the first set may be arranged to be distant from the stepped portions of the antennas in the second set. The antennas in the first set may be arranged to be more distant from an electronic device sidewall than the antennas in the second set. Configured in this manner, the array may exhibit reduced inter-coupling between dielectric resonator antennas in the first set and dielectric resonator antennas in the second set.

    Abstract: An electronic device comprises a housing (12R, 12W, Figure 6), a dielectric cover layer 56, a printed circuit (72, Figure 6), and a phased antenna array configured to radiate at a frequency greater than 10 GHz. The array comprises a plurality of dielectric resonating columns 92 staggered between first and second rows and mounted to the printed circuit, each dielectric column including a non-planar sidewall. The non-planar sidewall may be formed by a step (134, Figure 8) that joins planar sidewalls of first 130 and second 132 portions of each dielectric column. The non-planar sidewall of one row of columns preferably faces a non-planar sidewall of the other row of columns. Each dielectric column may also comprise a planar sidewall across the first and second portions. The array may exhibit reduced inter-coupling between dielectric resonator antennas in the first and second rows. An electronic device comprising a housing having a conductive sidewall (12W, Figure 11), and first and second rows of dielectric columns each having a non-planar sidewall configured to radiate at first and second frequencies respectively is also provided, as well as an antenna comprising a dielectric column having a planar sidewall and a non-planar sidewall.

    Abstract: A connector comprises a tongue 400, and a plurality of contacts 420 having contacting surfaces on the tongue 400. Each of the plurality of contacts 420 form physical and electrical connections with a corresponding contact in a corresponding connector when the connector is mated with a corresponding connector. A liquid-detect contact 450 remains disconnected from any contact in the corresponding connector when the connector is mated. A liquid-detect circuit (figure 10, 1000) is coupled to the liquid-detect contact 450. The liquid-detect circuit (figure 10, 1000) uses the liquid-detect contact 450 to determine a presence of liquid on the tongue. Another aspect comprises a liquid-detect circuit (figure 10, 1000) coupled to a liquid-detect contact 450, wherein the liquid-detect circuit determines continuity between the liquid-detect circuit and the liquid-detect contact 450. Another aspect is claimed where a plurality of contacts 420 each extending from near a leading edge 402 of the tongue 400. A ground pad 440 is behind the plurality of contacts 420 such that the plurality of contacts 420 is between the ground pad 440 and the leading edge of the tongue 402. A liquid-detect contact 450 is between the ground pad 440 and the plurality of contacts 420.
