    Abstract: A camera (22) may be mounted under a display (14) in an electronic device (10). The display (14) may include a polarizer layer (62), a color filter layer (60), and a thin-film-transistor layer (52). A layer of material such as a glass insert (180) may be attached to an edge of the display (14). Openings (134,136,138,142) may be formed in the layers of the display (14) and the insert (180) to accommodate the camera (22). A sleeve structure (146) may be mounted within an opening. The camera (22) may include lens structures (126) formed from a stack of lens elements. One or more layers (126-2) of the display (14) may be interposed within the lens structures (126). The glass insert (180) may be mounted within a notch (190) in the color filter layer (60) and thin-film transistor layer (52) or along a straight edge of the color filter layer (60) and thin-film transistor layer (52). The edge of the color filter layer (60) may be recessed with respect to form a mounting shelf (184) for the insert (180).

    Abstract: An electronic device (10), comprising a display (14) that includes a polarizer (62) with an opening, a sleeve (146) that passes through the opening, and a camera (22) having lens structures (126) that are at least partly contained within the sleeve (146). The display (14) comprises a thin-film-transistor layer (52) and a color filter layer (60). The electronic device (10) further comprises a layer of glass (180) that is attached to the display (14), wherein the layer of glass (180) has an opening through which the lens structures (126) and the sleeve (146) pass. T he color filter layer (60) and the thin-film-transistor layers (52) have respective edges and wherein the edge of the color filter layer (60) is recessed with respect to the edge of the thin-film-transistor layer (52) to form a ledge (184) on which the layer of glass (180) is mounted.
