Abstract:
Systems, methods, computer-readable mediums, user interfaces and other implementations are disclosed for organizing, managing and presenting widgets in display areas associated with multiple dashboard environments. In some implementations, a first display area associated with a first dashboard environment is configured for displaying at least one widget from a first set of widgets. A second display area associated with a second dashboard environment is configured for displaying at least one widget from a second set of widgets.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for a media device including one or more movement-based interfaces for interfacing with or controlling the media device.
Abstract:
Techniques, computer programs and apparatus relating to an integrated calendar and map feature are described. In one implementation, one or more calendar entries are identified in a calendar. A calendar entry includes an associated time and an associated location. A display of a map is provided including a graphical representation indicating a location associated with at least one calendar entry. The location associated with the calendar entry is derived from the calendar entry and included in a request to a map application for the map.
Abstract:
A computer- implemented method for displaying and managing lists on a portable multifunction device (100) with a touch screen display (112) includes displaying (602) a list of items, detecting (608) a finger contact (2724) on a moving-af fordance icon (2722), detecting (610) movement of the finger contact on the touch screen display, and in response to detecting the movement of the finger contact, moving (612) the moving-affordance icon and the corresponding item in the list in accordance with the movement of the finger contact. In some embodiments, at least some of the items have corresponding moving-af fordance icons (2722).
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method, for use in conjunction with a portable electronic device with a touch screen display, comprises displaying at least a portion of a structured electronic document on the touch screen display, wherein the structured electronic document comprises a plurality of boxes of content, and detecting a first gesture at a location on the displayed portion of the structured electronic document. A first box in the plurality of boxes at the location of the first gesture is determined. The first box on the touch screen display is enlarged and substantially centered.
Abstract:
Services for a personal electronic device are provided through which a form of background processing or multitasking is supported. The disclosed services permit user applications to take advantage of background processing without significant negative consequences to a user's experience of the foreground process or the personal electronic device's power resources. To effect the disclosed multitasking, one or more of a number of operational restrictions may be enforced. A consequence of such restrictions may be that a process will not be able to do in the background state, what it may be able to do if it were in the foreground state. Implementation of the disclosed services may be substantially transparent to the executing user applications and, in some cases, may be performed without the user application's explicit cooperation
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for providing email at a portable communications device with a touch screen display is disclosed. A first portion of a list of entries with information about corresponding electronic messages is displayed in a first area of the touch screen display. A first portion of an electronic message that corresponds to an entry in the list of entries is displayed in a second area of the touch screen display that is separate from the first area. In response to a first gesture by a user in the first area of the touch screen display, the list of entries is scrolled to display a second portion of the list of entries. In response to a second gesture by the user in the second area of the touch screen display, the electronic message is moved in two dimensions to display a second portion of the electronic message.
Abstract:
A portable device with a touch screen display detects a finger-in-contact or finger-in-range event at a first position on the touch screen display and a finger-out-of-range event at a second position on the touch screen display and then determines a distance between the first position and the second position. Next, the portable device identifies a user interface object associated with the first position, which includes a slide bar and a slide object, and moves the slide object along the slide bar in accordance with the distance between the first position and the second position.
Abstract:
A portable electronic device with a touch-sensitive display is disclosed. One aspect of the invention involves a computer-implemented method in which the portable electronic device: displays an application on the touch-sensitive display; and when the application is in a predefined mode, performs a predefined operation in response to each gesture of a set of multiple distinct gestures on the touch-sensitive display. Another aspect of the invention involves a computer-implemented method in which the portable electronic device: displays a first application; when the first application is in a first mode, performs a first operation upon detecting a first gesture on the touch-sensitive display; and performs the first operation upon detecting a second gesture on the touch-sensitive display, wherein the second gesture is different from the first gesture.
Abstract:
In a computer-implemented method for use at a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display, a web page or portion thereof is displayed on the touch screen display. An activation of a web-clip widget creation icon is detected. In response to detecting the activation, a web-clip widget is created from the web page or portion thereof.
