    Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for beam failure recovery based on a unified TCI framework. A UE may receive, from a base station, a configuration for a BFR procedure for a CCG. The CCG may include at least two CCs and the UE may periodically receive, from the base station, at least a first BFD RS and a first CBD RS in a first CC included in the CCG. The UE may detect, based on the first BFD RS, a beam failure in at least the first CC and send, to the base station, a BFRQ. The BFRQ may include a candidate beam selected based on at least the first CBD RS and may be sent via a PRACH or MAC CE. The UE may receive, from the base station, a BFR response and apply the candidate beam to the first CC and at least one additional CC of the CCG.

    Abstract: Some aspects relate to apparatuses and methods for selecting a receiving beam based on hybrid channel based beamforming and codebook based beamforming. A user equipment (UE) can determine, based on a first measurement related to signal to noise ratio (SNR) and predetermined threshold values, whether the UE is in a low SNR state. If the UE is in a low SRN state, the UE can derive an estimated channel covariance matrix RCH for channels at a set of antenna elements of the UE based on channel based bearmforming (CHBF). Afterwards, a set of test bears {0, . . . Ntest−1} is selected based on the channel covariance matrix RCH, and a set of codebook measurement beams is further selected based on the set of test beams. A receiving beam is selected based on a set of measurements performed on the set of codebook measurement beams at the measurement opportunity for codebook based beamforming (CBBF).

    Abstract: Techniques described herein include solutions for utilizing dual port synchronization signal block (SSB) transmissions for multiple receive (Rx) beam selection. In some aspects, a base station transmits a first SSB with a first polarization on a first antenna port, and transmits a second SSB with a second polarization on a second antenna port. The first and second SSBs may be transmitted, for example, using a first transmission reception point (TRP). A user equipment (UE) receives the first and second SSBs, and identifies one or more optimal Rx beams for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication based on the first and second SSBs.

    Abstract: An electronic device having multiple antenna groups for data communication may determine a temperature of a first antenna group and determine a power gain of a second antenna group. The electronic device may communicate using the second antenna group in response to determining that the temperature of the first antenna group exceeds a temperature threshold and the power gain of the second antenna group exceeds a gain threshold. In some embodiments, the electronic device may receive communication link preferences, determine an antenna group that is disposed outside of thermal hotspots of the electronic device, and determine a beam that enables the communication link preferences via the antenna group. The electronic device may then transmit or receive data via the antenna group by forming the beam.
