Abstract: An application layer in a device, a service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) layer in the device, and/or a media access control (MAC) layer in the device may determine that wireless communication resources allocated to the device need to be adjusted. The determination may be in response to detecting that a quality of the wireless connection of the device has deteriorated, or it may be based on advance knowledge of information pertaining to an application layer payload in the device. In response to the determination the device may transmit, in a MAC Control Element (MAC CE) to a base station, a request for an adjustment of the allocated wireless communication resources. The adjustment may lead to a temporary boost of resources for a limited period of time or to a persistent update of the allocated wireless communication resources. To allow better scheduling of multiple QoS flows mapped to the same DRB and better selection of data when constructing a MAC Packet Data Unit (PDU), a mapping between QoS flows and LCHs may also be provided to the MAC layer.

Abstract: Provided is a method for a user equipment (UE), comprising: receiving request for scheduling assistance from a base station, wherein the request for scheduling assistance comprises scheduling configuration to be applied to a set of flows of a scheduled terminal on an application layer; informing the scheduled terminal of the scheduling configuration; receiving scheduling assistance information from the scheduled terminal, wherein the scheduling assistance information is generated by the scheduled terminal based on the set of flows of the scheduled terminal on the application layer; and transmitting the scheduling assistance information to the base station.

Abstract: A primary device may run a software application requiring a compute task. The primary device may receive statistics from a set of secondary devices over wireless communication links. The statistics may include parameters associated with the compute and communication capabilities of the secondary devices. The primary device may predict, based on the statistics, an expected performance gain in distributing the compute task to the secondary devices relative to performing the compute task locally. If the expected performance gain is high enough, the primary device may distribute shares of the compute task to the secondary devices over the wireless communication links. If the expected performance gain is low enough, the primary device may perform the compute task locally. If the expected performance gain is moderate, the primary device may update the set of secondary devices and/or may update a coding and distribution scheme for the compute task.
