Abstract: A deep black housing(106) for a handheld electronic device(100) is disclosed having one or more high resolution, bleached markings(104). The bleached markings(104) are significantly lighter than the housing(106) and exhibit a smooth appearance. Methods for preparing a housing(106) having the finish and markings(104) are also disclosed, including housings(106) for use in mobile phones.
