    Abstract: The identification system for bodies containing luminous or fluorescent material uses an induction radiation source for directing this onto a body in the testing station. The luminous material is induced to emit light radiation which in the event of different wave lengths is picked up at the same time by numerous optical systems (24, 25, 26) and passed to relevant photodetectors (18, 19, 20). Each optical system is associated with an optical filter (21, 22, 23) so as to transfer to the associated photodetector a different selected wavelength or range of wavelengths from those wavelengths which are sent to a different photodetector. Each photodetector produces an output signal which linearly changes its level according to the intensity of the emitted light ray which falls on this. The signal level of a photodetector is altered by attenuation or amplification and the altered signal level is compared with the signal level derived from a different photodetector.

    Abstract: The aim is to provide an improved device and a method for identifying objects or bodies by checking the distribution of intensity and wavelength in the emission spectrum. A source of exciting radiation serves to direct exciting radiation onto the body located in a test station. A plurality of light pipes (24, 25, 26) simultaneously receive the luminous radiation emitted by the luminous material and feed the luminous radiation to photodetectors (18, 19, 20). Assigned to each light pipe (24, 25, 26) is an optical filter (21, 22, 23) which passes radiation of a specific wavelength or of a specific wavelength region. A circuit receives the electric output signals derived from the photodetectors and changes the signal level of the photodetectors by attenuation or amplification. The changed signal levels are compared with the signal level derived from another photodetector. It is indicated whether the level ratio is in a specific desired range.

    Abstract: A spectrofluorimeter for measuring excitation and emission spectra uses a flash or pulsed light source, and excitation monochrometer adjustable by a stepping motor, a first optical system for directing radiation onto a sample under test, a reference light detector for monitoring the excitation radiation, and an emission monochrometer, also adjustable by a stepping motor, for receiving radiation via a second optical system from the sample and directing selected wavelengths to a detection photomultiplier. The first and second optical systems are corrected for spherical and chromatic aberration. The light source includes a plasma discharge lamp.
