    Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain a stable electrodialyzing performance over an extended period of time by attaching a gasket frame and a spacer firmly into an integral form by means of a thermoplastic elastomer interposed between the inner peripheral edge of the gasket frame and the outer peripheral edge of the spacer. CONSTITUTION:In a gasket with a spacer 2a provided in an electric nonconducting part and/or conducting part of a gasket frame 1a, the spacer 2a is of such size as to keep its outer peripheral edge out of contact with the inner peripheral edge of the gasket frame 1a. And the gasket frame 1a and the spacer 2a are firmly attached into an integral form by a thermoplastic elastomer interposed between the inner peripheral edge of the gasket frame 1a and the outer peripheral edge of the spacer 2a. As a result, this method provides no liq. leakage even with a lower pressure applied for the gasket attachment than in the case of the conventional gasket for use in electrodialysis and, unlike the prior art gasket attaching methods, there is no problem of damages to ion-exchange membrane at the gasket attachment and a stable electrodialyzing performance can be maintained over an extended period of time.

    Abstract: A sealing plate has been devised for an electro-dialyser with several alternating cation and anion exchange membranes, sepd. by sealing plates. The latter are made of plastic material and have a central cut-out with a thermoplastic elastomer network inlay. The gap between the periphery of the latter and the frame is filled by a specified plastic material. The assembled sealing plate between the anion and cation exchange membranes consists of a frame of vulcanised rubber with passages and a network of polyolefin with projecting sections for holes giving access to the next membrane. They are bonded by a thermoplastic elastomer e.g. PS, PE, Pu or 1.2-PBR. The frame is made of PE, PP, EEA or EVA with an A-hardness of 30-95 deg. ADVANTAGE - Ensures that the frame and the net inlay remain undeformed and the bridging sections have a uniform thickness. (19pp Dwg.No.0/10)

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce leak out of a tank, by integrating the spacer of an electrified current passing part or the spacers of the electrified current passing part and a brine passing part. CONSTITUTION:A spacer is inserted into an electrified current passing part or the electrified current passing part and a brine passing part of a gasket frame comprising a vulcanized rubber sheet and vulcanized rubber is embedded in the parts of at least mutually opposed two sides of the spacer while the vulcanized rubber and the gasket frame are integrated to form a gasket. This gasket is prepared by a method wherein the spacer is inserted at least into an unvulanized rubber filling part so as not to be contacted with the gasket frame and the unvulcanized rubber is subsequently filled to be vulcanized. The gasket frame mem ber pref. comprises a vulcanized rubber sheet with a thickness of 0.2-2mm. and JIS HS hardness of 30-95 deg. and formed by punching the sheet like vulcanized rubber molded by a calender roll.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively remove the air staying in the diffusion dialysis tank and to provide a stabilized, continuous operation by repeating the process of dropping the diffusion liquid between the diaphragms, eliminating foams, raising liquid up from the lower part of the tank instantly and switching over to counterflow for diffusion dialysis. CONSTITUTION:As an example, to recover acid, under a normal operation the original liquid and water counterflowing through the lines S1 and S2, and P1 and P2, are subjected to diffusion dialysis in the diffusion dialysis tank 1. If air is generated in the diffusion chamber 2 to diminish the effective area of diaphragm, the operation valves 8 and a11 are closed and the air valve 9 and the operation valve 10 are opened to drop the liquid in the diffusion chamber 2 freely and eliminate the foams over the mesh of spacer. When the liquid level goes down the lower end of diaphragm, the valves 9 and 10 are closed and the valves 11 and 12 are opened instantly to raise the water from the head tank 4 up into the diffusion chamber 2 through the by-pass pipe B to push up the air in the chamber. When the water level comes up to the valve 9, the valves 9 and 12 are closed and the valve 8 is opened to be ready for the coming normal operation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable to uniformly disperse a liquid to a dialysis chamber as well as to prevent the liquid from being leaked to the inside and the outside of each dialysis chamber in a dialysis tank, in the clamping type electrodialysis tank, by using a gasket to which a spacer in a channel part is integrated. CONSTITUTION:To a gasket frame part 1 comprising a vulcanized rubber sheet, a notch which is communicated with a notch part corresponding to a current supply part 4 when a gasket is formed and contains one or more of communication pores 3 is provided and, to the cross area of said notch part, a rubbery adhesive comprising a composition same to an unvulcanized rubber composition to be filled later or a composition similar thereto, so called, a compatible size is coated. After coating, a spacer having an inserting part of which the width is narrower than said notch is inserted into the notch part so as to be not contacted with the previously coated compatible size and, further, a part in said notch part is filled with an unvulcanized rubber and, after said rubber is almost contacted with a gasket mamber, vulcanization is carried out to integrate the gasket and the channel spacer 5.
