Abstract:
The invention comprises a vinylene carbonate (VCA) copolymer having as comonomer chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) or tetrafluoroethylene (TFE). This copolymer is transparent, making possible the preparation of objects acting as guide or conductor for light with wavelengths of visible or near infrared type. Furthermore, it exhibits a glass transition temperature of greater than 60null C. which is appropriate for the preparation of optical fibers.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the polymerization or copolymerization of at least one monomer which can be polymerized or copolymerized by the radical route in the presence of a stable free radical and of an iniferter. The presence of the stable free radical greatly modifies the behavior of the iniferter during the polymerization or copolymerization, so that undesirable reactions are much reduced. It is possible, rapidly and with a high yield, to polymerize or copolymerize in the presence of an iniferter in order to result in a polymer or copolymer with a reduced polydispersity and with a monomodal molecular mass distribution. 1 PAGE 1.Background Of The Invention2 1.1 Technical Field2 1.2 Description Of Related Art2 2.Summary Of The Invention4 3.Description Of The Preferred Embodiments5 4.Claims17 5.Abstract Of The Disclosure20 6.Declaration And Power Of Attorney21
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a transparent and partially fluorinated polymer which comprises three repeat units resulting from industrial monomers which are simple to access and which has a glass transition temperature of greater than 25null C., which polymer makes possible the preparation of articles, in particular of articles acting as guide or conductor for light in the region of the wavelengths of visible or near infrared type. This polymer is of use in the manufacture of optical fiber.
