Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To release the gas pressure from an inflater during small fire of the inflater by manufacturing a sealing means to seal a filling port of the material which is melted at the automatic ignition temperature of the inflater, or immediately below the automatic ignition temperature. SOLUTION: The material 52 is thermoplastic plastic, tin, lead or an alloy having low melting point. The seal 50 covers an inner end of a filling port 22, and is slightly extended into the filling port 22. The seal can be ejected into the filling port 22 in a soft condition so that the sealing material is expanded outward to cover the filling port. The material of the seal 50 is melted or softened at the automatic ignition temperature or immediately below the automatic ignition temperature, for example, at an appropriate temperature in a small fire such as 842-932 deg.C (450-500 deg.F). The sealing material is melted or burned during a small fire, and the compressed gas in a chamber 14 is discharged before the pressure is in a dangerous condition and an inflater container is exploded.

Abstract: The diffuser assembly comprises a cylindrical cap portion (26) with a several openings (28) through which a non-symmetrical output flow of air bag inflation gas is dispensed when the inflator is operated. The diffuser assembly (22) includes at least one diffuser ring positioned on the cylindrical cap portion over the openings to straighten and direct the flow of gas directly out of the diffuser assembly. The diffuser ring comprises a flat circular structure with a predetermined thickness and which is defined by the space between two concentric circles. The diffuser assembly includes at least one diffuser ring pressed onto the cylindrical cap portion over the openings to straighten and direct the flow of gas out of the diffuser assembly.
