Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover valuable metals by shearing and finely pulverizing an inflator for air bag and separating the included materials in order by means of screening, magnet, burning, etc. SOLUTION: A shearing or cutting operation is executed to the inflater for air bag, and this inflater is scatteringly broken and screened to remove gas generating materials. If necessary, iron metal parts are separated from aluminum parts with the magnet. Successively, the burning is executed in a melting furnace and the temp. is raised to about 927 deg.C to melt the aluminum to be taken out. Since the non-melting remained materials containing iron component are retained in the melting furnace, these materials are recovered. By this method, the valuable metals are recovered from the inflater for air bag and can be reused.
