Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an air bag expansion device assembly in which a filter for reducing the internal pressure of an expansion device is obtained by winding a metal net material hollow cylindrical core in spiral to form a combustion inside tube. SOLUTION: A strip of wire mesh or expanded metal is cut in length matching with the diameter of a tube. A combustion filter tube is formed by winding three layers of wire woven fabric or expanded metal on a mandrel. Next, the tube is removed from the mandrel and is cut in prescribed length of a filter. The figure shows a completed passenger side combustion filter cut in prescribed length of 1' and having weld zones 21 at the tube end parts. The filter 20 has an inside diameter of 1.433" (3.64cm) and an outside diameter of 1.590" (5.04cm).
