Abstract:
Die-cuttable and matrix-strippable adhesive constructions and accompanying methods of fabrication are disclosed. The adhesive constructions, which find utility as labels, comprise a coextrudate of a polymeric film (31) and an adhesive layer (30) which may be formed from a thermoplastic elastomer and a tackifier. Additionally, additional layers and release layers (21) may also be incorporated into the adhesive constructions of the invention.
Abstract:
A label badge sheet construction including a facestock sheet releasably adhered to a liner sheet. A weakened separation line in the facestock sheet defines at least one label. After the sheet construction has been passed through a printer or copier and desired indicia printed on the at least one label the printed label can be removed to be used as a visitor's badge or the like. Preferably, first and second labels are formed with a fold line separating them, and a weakened separation line through the liner sheet forms a liner panel which is adhered to the back of the first label. With the first and second labels and the liner panel removed as a label assembly and the labels folded on the fold line, through-holes through the first and second labels and the liner panel are aligned. A lanyard or clip can be passed through the aligned through-holes. The liner panel thereby reinforces the through-holes. The invention further includes the assembled label badge, the method of forming same, the method of manufacturing the sheet and the kits which includes sheets, software, hardware, etc.
Abstract:
A return address label having a send address label formed therein are provided in a printable sheet. The printable sheet includes a release liner, pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, and face stock layer. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer may be applied to the release liner and the face stock layer may be applied to the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The adhesive layer and face stock layer have an outer die cut and an inner die cut. The release liner has a release liner die cut located between the inner and outer die cuts. The outer die cut and the release liner die cut form a return address label and the inner die cut forms a send address label. The send address label is within the outer die cut of the return address label and formed by the inner die cut.
Abstract:
A sheet retaining device such as a folder or a binder that incorporates a corner lock for preventing papers from dislodging therefrom. The sheet retaining device has a front cover (102) and a back cover (104). Each of the covers has a top edge (113), a bottom edge (111), an outer edge (109), and an inner edge (115). A first primary flap (116) is connected to the back cover along the outer edge and the bottom edge thereof to form a pocket that is adapted to receive one or more pieces of sheet material. A secondary flap (116) is connected to the back cover along the inner edge and the top edge thereof to form a corner lock adapted to retain corner of sheet material retained in the sleeves. Accordingly, when a piece of sheet material is retained in the pocket, the secondary flap acts as a corner lock on the free corner of the sheet material, tending to retain this free corner and the sheet material in the pocket, even if the sheet retaining device is turned upside down or sideways.
Abstract:
Printing stock for use in making a sign that includes a face sheet and a backing sheet. The sign is formed, for example, by overlapping a plurality of sheets of the printing stock, with the sheets arranged in a pattern to form a desired image of the sign. In a number of embodiments, the sheets of printing stock may be received through and printed on by a smalloffice, home-office (SOHO) printer. In other embodiments, the sheets of printing stock are of standard size for use with SOHO printers, i.e., A4, (21.6x27.9cms ) and legal size. The face sheet includes a printing surface for receiving ink and an adhesive surface for receiving the backing sheet. The face includes a face cut forming a margin and a face sub-sheet such that at least a portion of the margin is separable from the face sub-sheet. The backing sheet may include a backing cut forming a border and a backing sub-sheet such that at least a portion of the border is separable from the backing sub-sheet so that at least a portion of the adhesive surface of the face sheet is exposable. The face may include a plurality of registration marks for enabling the face sub-sheet from one sheet of printing stock that is separated from at least a portion of the margin thereof to be positioned with respect to the face sub-sheet from another sheet of printing stock.

Abstract:
A multilayer PSA construction includes a facestock, a hazy, first adhesive layer adjacent the facestock, and a PSA layer adjacent the first adhesive layer, and is protected until use by a release liner. The first adhesive layer includes an immiscible blend of a first elastomer having a first glass transition temperature and forming a continuous phase, and a second elastomer forming a discontinuous phase. The second elastomer has a glass transition temperature greater than the first glass transition temperature. The first adhesive layer also contains a tackifying component, which is preferentially soluble in the discontinuous phase. The PSA layer has a composition different from the first adhesive layer and is formed of at least one tackified elastomer that provides a measurable third maximum glass transition temperature, which is less than the second glass transition temperature. The multilayer PSA construction exhibits reduced migration of tackifiers and plasticizers over time.
Abstract:
A sheet (100) of printable cards (120) is provided comprising a cardstock sheet construction having a front side and a back side; continuous through-cut lines (140) through the cardstock sheet construction to the back side and defining at least in part perimeter edges of printable cards (120) wherein portions of the back side of the cardstock sheet construction form back sides of the printable cards (120). Means are provided on the back side of the cardstock sheet construction for holding the sheet (100) of printable cards (120) together when the sheet is sheet-fed through a printer or copier for a printing operation on front sides of the printable cards to form printed cards and for allowing the printed cards (120) after the printing operation to be peeled off to a removed position from the means with the back sides of the printed cards being tack-free. The means includes ultra-removable adhesive and a solid continuous liner sheet releasably secured with the ultra-removable adhesive to and covering at least substantially all of the back side of the cardstock sheet construction. The liner sheet covers the back sides of all of the through-cut lines (140) and the ultra-removable adhesive remains on the liner sheet with the printed cards (120) in the removed position. The through-cut lines (140) are not through-cut through the liner sheet, and the through-cut lines (140) define a matrix waste portion of the cardstock sheet construction surrounding the printable cards.

The release liner die cut and outer die cut enable the return address label to be removed from the printable sheet having a portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer exposed about a perimeter of the send address label such that the return address label may be adhered to a substrate. The inner die cut enables the send address label to be removed from the return address label and exposing an adhesive layer of the send address label. Name and address information may be printed on the send address label and used for the return address label. The send address label is part of the return address label, therefore, the information printed on the send address label and used as the return address and may be reused as a send address. Alternatively, the return address label may be first applied to an envelope or package to be used as a send address and the send address label may be removed from the return address label and used as the return address label. The information printed on the send address label may be printed using a conventional printer.
