Abstract: An insert (56) for an athletic shoe (20) is described. The insert (56) is generally used in conjunction with other shoe components (28) to provide additional stability to a shoe sole (24). The insert member (56) includes a central body (58) and a plurality of insert extensions (60-72) which extend outwardly from the central body (58). The extensions (60-72) may cooperate with lugs (32-46) of an outsole (26).
