Abstract:
The present invention relates to a tellurium-oxide glass composition for sealing glass to alloy metal or metals having a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than 16 ppm/°C, said composition comprising TeO 2 , ZnO, TiO 2 , optionally K 2 O and being substantially free of lead oxide, sodium oxide and vanadium oxide. The invention further relates to the use of the glass composition according to the invention for sealing glass to copper metal or to a copper alloy with an alloy or a metal having a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than 16 ppm/°C, more particularly aluminum alloys. The invention further relates to a connector comprising a copper or copper alloy contact, an insert and/or a housing made of metal or alloy having a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than 16 ppm/°C, and, as a glass-metal sealing material between the contact and the insert and/or housing, a tellurium-oxide glass having the composition according to the invention. Lastly, the invention relates to a glass-metal sealing method for a copper or copper alloy contact in an insert and/or housing made of metal or alloy having a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than 16 ppm/°C.
