Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for high data mode operation in cellular networks. A UE may determine, for an interface to a high-speed cellular network, a categorization from a plurality of categorizations, determine availability of the high-speed cellular network, and select, based at least in part on the categorization and availability of the high-speed cellular network, the interface for a data connection to the high-speed cellular network. The categorization may be one of expensive or not expensive and/or one of a first level associated with a higher compression codec rate or a second level associated with a lower compression codec rate. The UE may receive, from one of the a low-speed cellular network or the high-speed cellular network, carrier plan information for a cellular data service carrier and analyze the carrier plan information to determine desirability of a switch, e.g., from the low-speed cellular network to the high-speed cellular network.

Abstract: Techniques described herein may enable a user equipment (UE) to optimize radio access technology (RAT) and radio resources (e.g., bandwidth parts (BWPs)) when communicating with the network. This may be based on one or more factors or conditions, such as whether the UE is currently using 4th generation (4G) RAT or 5th generation (5G) RAT, whether the UE is in an active mode or idle mode, a BWP used by the UE, whether an application or network service requires a certain throughput, a type of application being used by the UE, an amount of network congestion, and so on. RAT optimization may also be based on whether the UE is using a frequency range 1 (FR1) or frequency range 2 (FR2), whether the UE is stationary or moving, whether the UE is experiencing beam failures, uplink (UL) switches, link quality measurements (LQMs), reference signal received power (RSRP) measurements, and so on.

Abstract: A wireless network may include a device that communicates with base stations. The device may include a set of antennas. The network may transmit a message identifying a subset of frequency resources of a frequency band for the device. The subset can include a bandwidth part configuration, a component carrier configuration, and/or a physical resource block configuration. The device may generate wireless performance metric data with the set of antennas using the subset of frequency resources rather than averaging wireless performance metric data across the entire band. The device may identify a best performing antenna based on the performance metric data and may use that antenna to transmit signals. The best performing antenna may be different than when averaged across the entire frequency band, serving to optimize wireless performance particularly when the frequency band has a wide bandwidth.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for application awareness interworking between cellular systems. A wireless device may be configured to initiate an application during an ongoing procedure serviced by a first operating according to a first radio access technology (RAT), receive, from a first cellular system, an indication to switch to a second cellular system operating according to a second RAT, and delay the switch to the second cellular system until completion of the ongoing procedure. A network function may be configured to detect initiation of an application during an ongoing procedure serviced by a cellular system operating according to a first RAT, the application having associated application preferences, determine that the associated application preferences indicate a switch to a second cellular system operating according to a second RAT, and delay the switch to the second cellular system until completion of the ongoing procedure.
