Abstract: In the case of a propellant tank, which is used in particular for the storage of cryogenic propellants, for example of spacecraft, and which is operated with a driving gas used as the delivery medium, the separation of the propellant from the driving gas takes place in a propellant removal device by means of straining and with the use of hydrostatic forces and capillary forces. The removal device is in the form of a refillable reservoir, which is provided in the vicinity of the bottom of the tank outside the shell of the tank in the region of the bottom of the propellant tank and is connected via a number of holes to the interior of the propellant tank. The removal device itself comprises a double-walled housing and is additionally thermally insulated. Capillary plates and additional struts are inserted in an L shape in the reservoir. Furthermore, to substantially prevent penetration of gas from the propellant line, a cylindrical, pleated strainer is provided at the end of the propellant line.
