Abstract: The invention provides a combustion apparatus which can inhibit an NOx generation even in the case of promoting a mixing between a high-temperature combustion gas and an air so as to intend to reduce an unburned combustible. In a combustion apparatus provided with a burner burning a fuel within a furnace in a theoretical air ratio or less, and an air port supplying a combustion air for a shortfall in the burner, a supply apparatus for supplying a nitrogen oxide generation inhibiting gas is provided in a mixing region between the both or near the mixing region. Further, the invention provides a wind box which can inhibit an NOx generation even in the case of promoting a mixing between a high-temperature combustion gas and an air so as to intend to reduce an unburned combustible. In a wind box having an air port arranged in a back flow side of the burner and supplying a combustion air for a shortfall in the burner, a supply apparatus for supplying a nitrogen oxide generation inhibiting gas is provided in a mixing region between the both or near the mixing region.

Abstract: This invention provides a solid fuel burner, which, while rendering the c apacity larger than that in the prior art, can suppress an increase in an un ignited region and thus can realize the prevention of an increase in NOx den sity in a combustion gas and the prevention of a lowering in combustion effi ciency, and a combustion equipment and boiler comprising the burner. The bur ner comprises a fuel-containing fluid supply nozzle (12) which supplies a fu el-containing fluid, from a connection part in a fluid transfer flow passage (10) for transferring a fuel-containing fluid comprising a fuel and a mediu m for the transfer of the fuel, toward an outlet part provided on the wall o f a furnace (4). The fuel-containing fluid supply nozzle (12) in its cross s ection perpendicular to the direction of flow of the fluid is in a rectangul ar, elliptical, or approximately elliptical form having major and minor axis parts from a connecting part (10a) in the fluid transfer flow passage (10) toward the outlet part provided on the wall surface of the furnace (4). Furt her, the area of a cross section perpendicular to the direction of flow of t he fluid is gradually increased from the connecting part in the fluid transf er flow passage (10) toward the outlet part. One or more air supply nozzles (15) for supplying combustion air are providedon the peripheral part of the nozzle (12).

Abstract: An apparatus which comprises a burner (1), through which pulverized coal and carrier air are passed to be burnt in a combustion chamber (2), and a flame retainer (18) disposed at an end of the burner. The flame retainer includes a flared tube (17) and an annular plate (16), which plate has a plurality of parts projecting radially inwards and being equiangularly spaced from each other. The annular plate comprises a plurality of ceramic pieces (23) and a plurality of fastener elements (25), both of which are arranged and assembled alternately to form the annular plate. The ceramic piece is shaped such that it projects radially inwards to serve as the projecting part when assembled. The ceramic piece has at opposite sides thereof smoothly curved edge surfaces (24a, 24b), and the fastener element has at opposite sides thereof smoothly curved edge surfaces (26a, 26b) which are engaged with the curved edge surfaces of the two neighbouring two ceramic pieces.

Further, the area of a cross section perpendicular to the direction of flow of the fluid is gradually increased from the connecting part in the fluid transfer flow passage (10) toward the outlet part. One or more air supply nozzles (15) for supplying combustion air are provided on the outer peripheral part of the nozzle (12).

The above combustion apparatus and window box are advantageously used for suppressing the formation of NOx, eve n when the mixing of a high temperature combustion gas with air is enhanced fo r reducing the amount of unburned components.
