Abstract: A corrosion sensor 200 for detecting action of corrosive media on a metallic component when the sensor is mounted on the component in use includes electrically conducting corrodible elements 222, 223, 224 mounted on a non conducting substrate 210, the elements being covered with a coating of protective corrosion inhibitor depletion paint 260. The protective coating defines a temporary defect feature 244 designed to permit attack on the corrodible elements by corrosive media after a predetermined time. Each corrodible element comprises a pair of spaced tracks 239, 240 extending longitudinally and a series of corrodible tracks 234, each corrodible track extending laterally and forming an electrical connection between the spaced tracks. The temporary feature 244 extends longitudinally, in the space between tracks 239, 240 across corrodible tracks 234 to permit a corrosive attack on a number of the corrodible tracks after the predetermined time.
