    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact apparatus easy in arrangement and connection by providing a tube bundle heat exchanger having a large number of single tubes in which a material flows laterally and a reaction chamber equipped with a bed for housing a catalyst accumulation layer in a common jacket. SOLUTION: Fresh gas (a) to be reacted is introduced into the jacket space of a tube bundle heat exchanger 1 provided below from the outside in the radius direction of the exchanger and preheated by the heat exchange with a reaction mixture (b) flowing through the tubes of the heat exchanger 1 from above to below. Next, the fresh gas (a) preheated is guided upwardly through an internal space 3 concentrically arranged in a reactor to be converted in its direction to reach a packed bed in a reaction device 2 through a catalyst bed 4 and the heating of the gas and main reaction are performed in the reaction device 2. The heat for endothermic reaction therein is given by the hot gas (c) guided through the jacket space 2 around a tube bundle 5 and the reaction mixture (b) obtained herein is taken out through a catalyst bed 6 and the heat exchanger 1.
