Abstract: Dirt-repellent textiles. Copolymers of (a) 12-63% of at least one polymerisable mono- or dicarboxylic acid, (b) 0.1-5% of at least one opt. etherified and/or esterified N-methylolamide of a polymerisable mono- or dicarboxylic acid, (c) 35-80% of at least one monomer CH2=CR-COO (CH2CH2O)n-R1 (where R is H, methyl or Cl; R1 is H or 1-4C alkyl and n is integer 2-40) and opt. (d) bal. up to 100% one or more co-monomers, are used for dirt-repellent finishing of natural and synthetic textiles, by impregnation; reaction by heating, pref. in presence of cross-linking catalysts, and pref. together with crease-proofing agents.

Abstract: Impregnated sheets made from fibrous textiles containing 10-30 wt.% of a mixture of unsaturated polyester and a unsaturated polymerisable monomer of boiling point more than 50 degrees C and a photoinitiator in proportion 0.01-4 wt.% of the polyester/monomer. The product is crosslinked photochemically. The impregnating solution has unlimited pot life, and very short gelation time. Polymerisation can be interrupted if required.
