Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an open-cell inorganic foam product without removing the amount of an organic material expressed in terms of weight by thermal decomposition and without beating relatively large cells and closing the foam cells. SOLUTION: A slip material comprising a baking inorganic powder, an evaporable liquid material capable of making the slip material flowable and, as necessary, an expanding gas forming material are converted into one expanded product under liberating the expanding gas in an expansion process and one treatment of the expanded product is carried out so as to make the slip material unflowable. An intermediate of open cells is formed and the residual material is removed from the liquid material. Optional other materials are removed from the intermediate to form a green foam material, which is then baked to form a baked open-cell inorganic foam product.
