Abstract: Dyes of the benzopyrane series of formula (I): (where B is oxygen or imino; X is =CH-CH=CH-, =N-CH=CH-, =CH-N=CH-, =C(CH3)-N=CH-, =C(CH3)-N=C(SCH3)-, =CH-CH=N-, =CH-C(CH3)=N-, =CH-C(C6H5)=N, =C(CN)-C(NHCOCH3)=N, =CH-N=N-, =N-N=C(Z4)-, =N-C(Z4)=N, =C(C6H5)-N=N-, Z1 and Z2 are H, opt. substd. alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, or together with the N atom form part of a heterocyclic ring or condensed saturated, opt. substd. 5- or 6-member ring; Z3 is H, carbalkoxy, CN, alkyl sulphonyl, -CONHCONH2, opt. substd. carbamoyl, sulphamoyl, phenyl, aryl sulphonyl, benzimidazolyl, benzthiazolyl, benzoxazolyl, or quinazolinonyl; Z4 is H, methyl, ethyl, propyl, benzyl, phenyl opt. substd. with Cl, methyl or methoxy) are used in the dyeing or printing of polyamide, cellulose ester, polyacrylonitrile and polyester textiles, and for mass colouring of thermoplastics, in orange to red shades.
