    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the considerably high production cost and the considerable loss of yield caused by precipitation, filtration and washing procedures. SOLUTION: A Cu-phthalocyanine dye containing sulfonic acid group and having a maximum absorption wavelength λmax of >=605nm is produced by heating Cu-phthalocyanine together with >=15wt.% of fuming sulfuric acid at about 50-110 deg.C until the reaction product shows an absorption peak at >=605nm, diluting the obtained sulfonation product with water, adding an oleophilic t- amine, stirring the mixture at an increased temperature until the oleophilic phase containing an ammonium salt is separated from an aqueous phase acidified with sulfuric acid, subsequently washing the oleophilic phase with water as necessary, adding a water-soluble base for the production of a sulfonic acid salt together with water to the oleophilic phase, separating the generated phase and leaving the salt in the aqueous solution or separating the salt from the aqueous solution.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject concentrate having high light resistance, water resistance and friction peel resistance and, accordingly, advantageously usable for the production of an ink for ink-jet recording by adding a specific dye at a specific ratio based on the total dye. SOLUTION: This concentrate contains 15-35wt.% of a dye based on the concentrate and 90-100wt.% of the dye is a dye of the formula (kat corresponds to a t-alkylalkanoyl ammonium cation). The dye concentrate can be produced e.g. by diazotizing a flavonic acid with a nitroso ester and coupling the obtained diazonium salt to a γ-acid in water in the presence of an amine constituting the base of kat . A printed material having water-resistance, light resistance and friction peel resistance can be produced by this process.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a phenylazonaphthalene in improved yields by diazotizing a specified aniline with neopentyl glycol dinitrite and coupling the product with β-naphthol in the presence of an amine. SOLUTION: 1mol of an aniline represented by formula II (wherein R is H or a 1-4C alkyl) is diazotized with 0.5-0.56mol of neopentyl glycol dinitrite in an aqueous medium to obtain a reaction mixture. This mixture is coupled with 1.0-1.15mol, per mol of the aniline, β-naphthol at 5-50 deg.C in the presence of an ethanolamine- or propanolamine-type tert. amine in a mixed solvent containing 30-50wt.% water and 45-70wt.% water-miscible diluent to obtain a phenylazonaphthalene represented by formula I (wherein Kat is the equivalent weight of a cation derived from the ethanolamine- or propanolamine-type tert. amine).

    Abstract: Process of preparing a concentrated solution of a water-soluble anionic azo dye containing 1 to 4 sulfonic acid groups by diazotization and coupling of a diazo and coupling component, respectively, in the solvent or solvent mixture required for the concentrated solution which should have as essential solvents water and/or water-soluble or water-miscible organic solvents other than carboxylic acids.     Abstract: A process for preparing sulphonic acid group-containing Cu phthalocyanine dyes with an absorption maximum lambda max of ≥ 605 nm, comprises heating Cu phthalocyanine with at least 15 wt. % oleum at 50-110 degrees C until the reaction product exhibits an absorption maximum of ≥ 605 nm, and subsequently diluting the sulphation product with water, adding a tertiary, lipophilic amine and stirring at an elevated temperature for a period until the ammonium salt-containing lipophilic phase separates from the aqueous phase; optionally washing the lipophilic phase with water; treating the lipophilic phase with a water soluble base whose sulphonic acid salt is to be prepared; adding water and separating the resulting the phases; and leaving the salt in the aqueous solution or isolating it.
