Abstract: The invention relates to a method for on-line monitoring and controlling the monomer conversion during emulsion polymerization. According to said method, a balance is continuously made, starting from an initialization point in time, of the heat amount Q?IN? fed to a reaction, the reaction enthalpy Q?RE? added by the supply with monomers and the amount of heat Q?OUT? dissipated from the reactor. A non-dissipated amount of heat Q?AD? is calculated on the basis of these values which in the case of a spontaneous adiabatic reaction would result in an increase in the internal temperature and the internal pressure of the reactor. A check is carried out whether the potential adiabatic temperatures and pressures are always within the predetermined upper limits. If said upper limits are exceeded, the addition of monomers to the reactor is slowed down or stopped.

Abstract: Procedimiento para la monitorización y el control en línea de la conversión de monómeros durante la polimerización en emulsión en un reactor, en el que a) se selecciona un momento t0 = 0 de inicialización y se le asigna al reactor para este momento una capacidad Q0 calórica inicial determinada, b) a partir del momento de inicialización se determina de manera continua la cantidad QIN de calor suministrada al reactor, la entalpía QRE de reacción suministrada y la cantidad QOUT de calor disipada del reactor, c) se calcula la cantidad QAD de calor no disipado según la ecuación siguiente: d) a partir de la cantidad QAD(t) de calor no disipada y de la temperatura T(t) interna instantánea del reactor se calcula la temperatura TAD interna máxima que aparece en caso de una reacción adiabática espontánea, y e) si la temperatura TAD interna máxima calculada sobrepasa la temperatura T(t) interna instantánea del reactor en un valor determinado, se llevan a cabo medidas, que impiden un ascenso adicionalde la cantidad QAD de calor no disipada.
