Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an improved method for completely regenerating oxidation catalysts comprising multi-metal oxides. CONSTITUTION: The multi-metal oxide oxidation catalyst which has been used in the catalytic gas-phase oxidation of lower organic compounds and contains oxides of Mo, W, V and Cu elements as basic components in fresh forms is regenerated by the action of oxidizing agents or oxidizing means and the solubilizing action of an aqueous ammonia solution to which acetic acid and/or the ammonium salt thereof has been added, and by subsequent drying and calcination.
