Abstract: The invention relates to a method for detecting identifying substances in dark-coloured mineral oil products which contain, as identifying substance, a compound of the formula I in which D is phenyl optionally substituted by methyl or methoxy, R is hydrogen or methyl, R is hydrogen or C1- to C4-alkyl, and R is C3- or C4-alkyl, by extraction with aqueous acid, which process is characterised in that an alkylphenol is added to the mineral oil product before the extraction.
