Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the continuous preparation of methoxyamine hydrochloride by cleavage of acetone oxime methyl ether by means of hydrogen chloride and water, wherein the cleavage is carried out in a reaction column having less than 20 theoretical plates and the amount taken off at the top is set to at least 30% of the amount of feed.
