Abstract: A composition comprises a vinyl group-containing compound; a nitroxyl compound of a secondary amine that does not have an H atom on the alpha carbon atom; at least one aromatic compound and corresponding condensation products with a carbonyl compound and/or corresponding quinoneimines or quinonediimines; and a hydroxylated benzene compound. A composition (I) comprises: (A) at least one vinyl group-containing compound; (B) at least one nitroxyl compound of a secondary amine that does not have an H atom on the alpha carbon atom; (C) at least one compound of formula (1a), (1b) or (1c) and condensation products of the compounds of formula (1a) with a carbonyl compound comprising formaldehyde, acetaldehyde or acetone and/or quinoneimines or quinonediimines, prepared by reaction of quinones with compounds of formula (1b) or (1c); and (D) at least one compound of formula (2). R = H, 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C ;alkenyl, halogen, OY or NY2; R = H, 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C ;alkenyl, halogen, OY or NY2 ; R = H, 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C alkenyl, 7-10C aralkyl or 1-4C alkylcarbonyl; j = 0 or 1 whereby the carbon atom on ring A which neighbors that car on atom carrying the group -N(R )- is optionally bonded to the position 2' of ring A' via a single chemical bond, a carbonyl group or a group -C(Z)2-; Y,Z = H, 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C alkenyl; Y = H, 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C alkenyl or phenyl optionally substituted by 1-3, 1-4C alkyl groups; X = OR or NR R ; R -R = H, 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C alkenyl; X' = OR ' or NR 'R '; R '-R ' = H, 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C alkenyl; B = C2- or C3--alkylene or alkenyl bridge or a C2- alkenyl bridge optionally substituted by up to 4 alkyl groups; R = H, 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C alkenyl; and n = 1 or 2 Independent claims are also included for: (1) a process for the inhibition of the polymerization of a vinyl group containing compound (A) during purification or distillation by the addition of components (B), (C) and/or (D) prior to or during purification or distillation; and (2) Mixtures (II) comprising components (C) and (D).
