Abstract: The ball mill drum (2) rotates on two shaft stubs (1) around the axis (15). One end (11) of the two shaft stubs (1) is driven by an electric motor (13) via V-belts (12). The other shaft stub (6) is hollow and is seated by a bearing (5) on a hollow stationary tube (4). The drum (2) has a rotary seal (7) separating the slightly pressurised drum space from the environment. The material to be ground is admitted through the tube (4). It also accommodates a smaller dia. tube (8) with a swan neck-shaped inner end (9), serving as a discharge tube for the ground material. On the inner surface of the drum (2) there are one, or several strips (16) fitted in helical shapes along the length of the drum. They ensure a thorough mixing and travel in axial direction of the contents of the drum.

Abstract: The process involves application in layers of a pourable anisotropic material in a soln. of a polymer binding agent, and additives in an organic solvent, onto a non-magnetic carrier material. The magnetic anisotropic particles are aligned in the dispersion layer in a preferred direction, which is also to the plane of the carrier material. The coating is fastened and dried. Directly before application onto the carrier material, the dispersion is subjected to a penetrating magnetic field. The homogenous magnetic field has a field strength, which is higher or of the same size as the coercive field strength of the magnetic material used.

Abstract: Wear resistance test rig is used for tape guide elements of magnetic tape recorders. The surface which is in contact with the abrasive magnetic tape is fitted with recesses of a geometrical form where the depth has a defined ratio to the surface area. The depth is measured before and after a wear test and the wear depth is calculated from that. This is a simpler method than use of vapour deposits of metallic films, and it is easier to interpret than readings taken by the radioactive isotope method. A double magnetic sound head (8) has on its contact face (7) several rhomboidal impressions (6). These impressions are arranged symmetrically to the gaps (9, 10) between the pole faces (11, 12). The dotted lines (13, 14) indicate the boundaries of the contact surface (15).
