    Abstract: An isolated nucleic acid sequence (I), encoding a polypeptide, comprising a sequence (Ia) involved in fatty acid or lipid metabolism, and a targeting sequence (Ib), is new. An isolated nucleic acid sequence (I), encoding a polypeptide, comprising a sequence (Ia) involved in fatty acid or lipid metabolism, and a targeting sequence (Ib), is new. (Ib) is: (a) a 732 base pair sequence (S1), or a derivative that encodes a polypeptide at least 60 % homologous with a 244 residue amino acid sequence (S2) encoded by (S1), both fully defined in the specification; or (b) a 2964 base pair sequence (S3), fully defined in the specification, or its N-terminal region. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a polypeptide (II) encoded by (I); (2) a construct containing (I) linked to one or more regulatory sequences; (3) a vector containing (I) or the construct of (2); (4) organism containing (I), the construct of (2) or the vector of (3); (5) transgenic plants containing (I) or the construct of (2); and (6) targeting a protein, involved in lipid or fatty acid synthesis, to liposomes or lipid bodies, comprising introducing (S1) into an organism.
