Abstract: An aqueous emulsion contains liquid or solid paraffin, a wax, an oil, a fat, or a resin; a salt of a di-, tri- or tetra-valent weakly basic metal, such as zirconyl acetate, and 2 to 20% of an alcohol containing not more than 5 carbon atoms in the molecule. The alcohol may be primary, secondary, or tertiary and may have a branched chain but should not saturate the aqueous phase. The emulsions may contain fatty or montanic acids.
