Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based preparation most suitable for the production of hair-treatment, shower bath or shower gel, etc., by combining an alkylpolyglycoside with a specific compound and optionally adding a surfactant to the mixture. SOLUTION: An alkylpolyglycoside is used in combination with a polyethylene glycol ether derivative of formula I (R is an 8-22C alkyl; A is a bivalent group derived from diisocyanate; (n) is 20-400). The alkylpolyglycoside is preferably a compound of formula II (R is an 8-18C straight or branched-chain alkyl; G is a polyglycosyl group; (m) is 1.5 to 5). The system is preferably further incorporated with a surfactant (e.g. a fatty alcohol ether sulfate). The water- based preparation is preferably produced by compounding 1-20wt.% of the alkylpolyglycoside and 0.05-1wt.% of the polyethylene glycol ether derivative of formula I.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain transparent and stable oil emulsion, particularly for use in cosmetics or medicines, in which there is no problem from the viewpoint of toxicology by including an alkylpolyglycoside represented by a specific formula, oil and water at specific ratio. SOLUTION: This oil emulsion which is transparent and stable and has improved bubble forming characteristics is composed of an alkylpolyglycoside represented by the formula R-O-(Z)n -H [wherein R: an alkyl group, -(Z)n -H: a polyglycosyl group, Z: a glycosyl group, n: average value 1-5], oil and water, and weight ratio of the alkylpolyglycoside to oil is in the range of (1.5:1)-(15:1). The polyglycosyl group may be an oligomer or monoglycosyl group. Sugar components which can be used as the alkylglycosyl group are, for example, glucose, fructose, mannose, galactose.
