Abstract: Use of azo dyes I for thermal transfer printing, in which the substituents have the following meaning: X is a radical IIa or IIb where R is H; C1-C6-alkyl or phenyl which can carry C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C2-alkoxy, chlorine, bromine or cyano as substituents; R is H; C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, chlorine or bromine; n is 1 or 2; K is the radical of a coupling component II H-K III from the aniline, aminonaphthaline, pyrazole, diaminopyridine, hydroxypyridone or tetrahydroquinoline series.
