    Abstract: Synthetic polyamide materials are dyed as printed using amino-anthraquinone dyes having the general formula in which Y is oxygen or sulphur, R1 is hydrogen or hydroxyalkyl, R2 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or hydroxyalkyl, R3 is hydrogen or an aliphatic radical which may bear a cyclic radical as in cyclohexylethyl, Ar denotes an aromatic hydrocarbon radical which may bear substituents, and n is 1 or 2. Specified synthetic polyamide materials include caprolactam, hexamethylene diamine (adipic acid or similar polyamide forming substances in the form of sheeting, films, fibres, filaments, flock and woven or knitted fabrics. The dyes may be used in admixture or with other dyes and dyeing assistants and textile assistants may be present. The materials may be treated in neutral or acid liquors. Examples are given.

    Abstract: The invention comprises anthraquinone dye-stuffs of the formula wherein X represents H, alkyl or halogen; X1 represents H, alkyl or halogen; Y represents an O or S atom; A represents H or hydroxyalkyl and B represents H, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl. They may be obtained by reacting an anthraquinone compound of the formula with chlorosulphonic acid, concentrated sulphuric acid or oleum in a molar ratio of 1:2, the sulphonic acid radicals being converted to sulphochloride radicals by treating with chlorinating agents in the case where sulphuric acid or oleum is used, and reacting the disulphochloride intermediate with a compound of the formula in a molar ratio of 1:1 followed by hydrolysing the remaining sulphochloride group. Examples are given for the production of the compounds. They are useful for dyeing or printing fibrous material.

    Abstract: The invention comprises anthraquinone dyestuffs of the general formula wherein X is -0- or -s-; R is a linear, branched or cyclic alkyl radical which may be substituted and R1 is hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, alkyl or alkoxy group. Preferably R is a C1-C8 alkyl which may contain an hydroxy group, a C1-C5 alkoxy group, a hydroxy alkoxy group containing one to five carbon atoms, C1-C8 alkoxyalkoxy groups or a phenyl radical and R1 may be a methoxy or chlorine atom. They may be prepared by reacting (a) the corresponding 2-halo anthraquinone compound at 60 DEG to 150 DEG C. with at least a molar amount of a compound Z-X-R, wherein Z is H or an alkali metal and X and R are as defined above or (b) the corresponding 4-halo anthraquinone compound with a phenylmercaptan at 60 DEG to 150 DEG C. in presence of an organic solvent and an acid binding agent. In another method a salt of an S-alkylisothiourea may be used instead of the compound Z-X-R. Organic solvents mentioned are ethanol, butanol, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether and dimethylformamide and the acid binding agents used are potassium hydroxide, carbonate and triethylamine. Many examples are given and the following compounds are claimed per se.
