Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing expandable polystyrene with a molecular weight Mw in excess of 170,000 g/mol. According to the invention, a styrene polymer melt containing an expanding agent and having a temperature of at least 120 DEG C is passed through a spinneret comprising bores, whose diameter at the spinneret exit measures a maximum 1.5 mm, and is then granulated. The invention also relates to expandable styrene polymers (EPS) with a molecular weight Mw of more than 170,000 g/mol and between 0.05 and 1.5 wt. % inherent moisture.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of producing foam slabs having a density of 20 to 20 to 200 g.l and a cross-section of at least 50 cm by extrusion and foaming a mixture from a styrene polymer, 3 to 15 % by weight of a foaming agent mixture and preferably 0.01 to 10 % by weight of graphite particles, each based on the styrene polymer. The foaming agent is a mixture of 79 to 28 % by weight of CO2; 50 to 10 % by weight of ethanol; 11 to 22 % by weight of a saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic C3-C5 hydrocarbon, preferably isobutane, and 0 to 20 % by weight of water.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the production of flameproof, expandable styrol polymers (EPS) by extruding a styrol polymer melt containing a propellant and flameproof agents through a nozzle plate with subsequent under water granulation. The residence time of the flameproof agent is less than 30 minutes at a melting temperature in the region of between 140 to 220 °C.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the production of bead-shaped expanded polystyrene by suspension polymerisation of styrol in the presence of 1 to 5 wt. % of a hydrocarbon with 4 to 6 C atoms and 0.5 to 3.5 wt. % of a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon with a boiling point above 70°C, but in the absence of a chain initiator, giving rise to a reduction in the molecular weight of the polystyrene.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a tube which has been filled with an open-cell foam based on an amino resin, especially a melamine/formaldehyde condensation product, and to its uses, especially as a filter or static mixer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to expanded polypropylene particles with a density of 5 to 200 g/l and a particle diameter of 1 to 10 mm, containing 0.002 to 20 weight percent graphite particles.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing expandable polystyrene polymers in the form of particles, containing 5-50 wt.% exfoliated graphite and, optionally, 2-20 wt.% phosphorous compound as flame-producing agents. According to the invention, said polystyrene compounds are produced by means of suspension polymerization of styrene in the presence of flame-producing agents.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of producing foamed slabs with a density of 20 to 200 g.1 and a cross-section of at least 50 cm . The inventive foamed slabs are produced by extruding and foaming a mixture from a styrene polymer, 3 to 15 percent by weight of a volatile foaming agent and 0.2 to 10 percent by weight graphite particles, each based on the styrene polymer, and optionally conventional additives. The invention is also characterized in that the volatile foaming agent is a mixture from 95 to 20 percent by weight CO2, 5 to 90 percent by weight H2O and 0 to 75 percent by weight of a volatile organic compound.
