Abstract: Basic phthalimidine dyes suitable for dyeing acrylonitrile or acid-modified polyester fibres in yellow to blue shades consist of quaternary phthalimidine salts in which the -H atom attached to nitrogen may be substituted by specified hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon groups. The -H atom attached to the C atom adjacent to nitrogen is substituted by -CH=CH-A (in which A is a p-dialkyl- or p-diarylamino phenyl group, possibly substituted, or a group Z being oxygen or an -N(CH3)- or -N(C2H5)- group and B the remainder of a 5- or 6-member ring.).
