Abstract: The invention relates to an optical recording medium, essentially consisting of a base material and a light-absorbing layer which contains a thermoplastic binder and at least one dye, the thermoplastic binder being a polycyclic hydrocarbon having a glass temperature Tg higher than 150 DEG C and being soluble to the extent of more than 3% by weight in aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.
