Abstract: Crosslinkable coating agents based on an organic dispersion (I) of a crosslinkable copolymer (A) which dispersion is stable without an emulsifier and a diisocyanate or polyisocyanate (II). The organic dispersion (I) of the copolymer (A) is prepared by the copolymerization of: A. POLYMERIZABLE COMPOUNDS CONTAINING HYDROXYL GROUPS, WITH B. OTHER COMONOMERS IN C. AN ORGANIC LIQUID IN WHICH THE COPOLYMER (A) formed is not soluble, and in the presence of (B) a copolymer of comonomers from groups (a) and (b) and which is soluble in the organic liquid (c).

Abstract: The copolymers have mol. wt. of 1000-10000 and a gel point of 15 degrees C, and are made by polymerising at 100-160 degrees C, at least temporarily under reduced pressure and at reflux, of a mixture of (a) 55-97 wt% acrylic acid esters of 3-12C non-tertiary alkanols; (b) 3-25 wt% of >=1 (meth)acrylic acid ester contg. a OH grp.; and (c) 0-20 wt% other monoethylenically unsatd. monomers, in the presence of free radical catalysts and opt. polymerisation regulators and solvents. The resulting polymers are completely compatible with polyetherols (made e.g. by reacting epoxypropane or epoxyethane with polyols) and may be used in plasticisers, e.g. in polyacrylates and polyurethanes, and in coatings, primers, adhesives and sealants.

Abstract: Surface-coating binders based on a reaction product of Mannich bases, obtained from polyhydric phenols, secondary amines and formaldehyde, with epoxy resins. The Mannich bases and/or the epoxy resins carry hydroxyl groups, bonded to aliphatic structures, which have been converted to urethane groups by reaction with partially blocked polyisocyanates. When protonized and diluted with water, the surface-coating binders may be used as cationic electrocoatings.

Abstract: Baking finishes of low solvent content, which have a viscosity of from 20 to 300 DIN seconds, measured in a DIN cup No. 4, and comprise from 40 to 85% by weight of hydroxyl-containing polymers, from 10 to 55% by weight of amine/formaldehyde resins and from 5 to 35% by weight of polyisocyanates, and may also contain up to 15% by weight of monohydric or dihydric alcohols, up to 35% by weight of solvents, up to 65% by weight of pigments and fillers and up to 3% by weight of crosslinking catalysts. The finishes are particularly suitable for coating automotive components.
