Abstract: Flexible magnetogram carrier esp for endless cassettes consists of a flexible plastic support film that is provided with a bonding layer coated on one side with (I) a magnetic layer consisting of a finely divided magnetic pigment in (II) an org. binder, and, on the side opposite to I, with (III) a lubricating layer consisting of a mixt of (IV) 50-90 wt. % of a lubricant, and (V) 50-10 wt. % of an org. binder. V is either (a) a copolymer of 75-95 esp. 75-85 wt. % vinyl chloride and 25-5 esp. 25-15 wt. % of an ester of a 1-3C aliphatic alcohol with a 3-6C olefinically unsatd carboxylic acid, or (b) a vinylformal polymer contg. at least 65 wt. % vinylformal gps. II consists of polymer (b) when copolymer (a) is used in layer III, or of copolymer (a) when polymer (b) is used in layer III. The carrier has good winding and running properties, satisfactory electro-acoustic value and low head abrasion.

Abstract: Magnetic layer for laminated magnetograms consists of a dispersion of a finely divided magnetic pigment in a mixt of (I) 35-55 wt. % polyurethane elastomer that is soluble in a volatile org. solvent, is practically free of isocyanate gps, and has a Shore A hardness of 70-80, (II) 35-55 wt. % polyurethane elastomer that is soluble in a volatile org. solvent is practically free of isocyanate gps, and has a Shore A hardness of 90-100, and (III) 0-35 wt. % additional polymerix binder. Good resistance to magnetic heads is obtd with very slight abrasion of magnetic heads. Gives magnetic layers with good magneto-electric properties. I and II are pref. prepd from aliphatic polyester polyols aromatic diisocyanates and opt. 2-8C aliphatic diols. III is pref. a polyepoxide resin prepd. from 2,2-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propane and epichlorohydrin.

Abstract: Coated magnetic recording media, especially video tapes and computer tapes, comprising a non-magnetic base carrying a magnetic coating which consists of a dispersion, essentially containing a finely divided magnetic pigment in an organic binder and at least one lubricant. A compound of the formula in which n is an integer of from 1 to 3 and R is alkyl, alkoxyalkyl or aralkyl, each of 3 to 18 carbon atoms, is used as a lubricant. The products have high abrasion resistance coupled with only little transfer of material to the magnetic heads even under fluctuating climatic conditions.
